NOTICE OF ADOPTION

Grattan Township

AMENDMENTS TO THE ZONING ORDINANCE

 

On September 14 , 2020,the Grattan Township Board adopted new amendments to the Grattan Township Zoning Ordinance, as amended. The amendments include adding a new subsection 3.62F(10) indicating that larger solar energy collections systems are only allowed within the A-2 Agricultural and R-R Rural Residential zoning districts and only then with special land use approval, the addition of a new and additional subsection 6B.03(U) that would allow larger solar energy collections systems within the A-2 Agricultural zoning district and the addition of a new and additional subsection 9.02B(3) allowing larger solar energy collection system within the R-R Rural Residential zoning district. A full copy of those newly enacted amendments to the Grattan Township Zoning Ordinance can be inspected, reviewed or purchased at the Grattan Township offices during normal business hours or by contacting the GrattanTownship Clerk at (616) 691-8450. The new zoning amendments will become effective upon the expiration of 7 days after this Notice appears in the newspaper.

STARTING SEPTEMBER 8, 2020, LINCOLN LAKE AVENUE WILL BE CLOSED
NORTH OF M-44 FOR 4-5 WEEKS TO ADD A DEDICATED EAST-BOUND TURN
LANE ON THE SOUTH-BOUND SIDE OF LINCOLN LAKE AND TO REPAINT THE
STRIPES ON THE NORTH BOUND SIDE TO PROVIDE A DEDICATED LEFT TURN
LANE.SHORTLY THEREAFTER MDOT WILL BE INSTALLING A TRAFFIC SIGNAL
IN THE INTERSECTION. THER MAY BE LANE RESTRICTIONS OR SHOULDER R
ESTRICTIONS BUT A COMPLETE SHUT-DOWN IS NOT ANTICIPATED. THE
DETOURS WILL BE CLEARLY MARKED ON LINCOLN LAKE ROAD FOR THE ROAD WORK.

Township will be open 9:00am - 5:00pm to collect taxes

December 1, 2020 – 2020 Winter tax bills mailed

December 28, 2020 – Township Office will be open to collect taxes only 9:00am – 5:00pm  

February 16, 2021 – 2020 Winter taxes due without interest or penalty

March 1, 2021 – 2020 taxes due before going delinquent to Kent County

Township residents voices are heard! The survey is conducted every 3 years. In past
years, most responses came from the city of Grand Rapids. The county wants better
representation across the county. Your voice is important and will help the county better
understand your needs. Responses will help the county and nonprofit organizations like
Flat River Outreach Ministries to better understand the needs in our community.

The survey may take up to 15 min to complete but
your answers will be valuable in helping our community.

Those who fill out the survey will have their name placed in a drawing to win a $50 Visa
gift card. Survey is being conducted by the Kent County Health Department. Need a
paper survey, visit Flat River Outreach Ministries (FROM) or Treasures Thrift Shop in
Lowell to pick up a paper copy and return it to FROM. A Spanish version is also
available. Survey is open until Oct. 1.
